Traffic alert: Thompson Road service road from I-690 closed after person reportedly jumped from bridge; delays expected

Update 5:05 p.m.: As of 4:16 p.m. the Thompson Road service road has reopened. Drivers should be able to take Exit 16N and Exit 16S from westbound Interstate 690 as the area has been cleared, according to an alert from the state Department of Transportation.

Syracuse, N.Y. — The Thompson Road service road in Syracuse is closed after reports a person jumped from a bridge, according to dispatches.
Around 2:30 p.m., several 911 callers reported a person had jumped from the Thompson Road bridge that goes over 690, according to dispatches from the Onondaga County 911 Center. The person landed on the service road, 911 callers said.
Officers arrived, confirmed they found an injured person, and started shutting down the road, dispatchers said.
Exit 16N and Exit 16S from westbound Interstate 690 is closed, according to an alert from the state Department of Transportation.
The exit will remain closed for an extended period of time and severe delays are expected, according to a Tweet from the Syracuse Police Department.
The DOT cameras show drivers cannot take the double exit from the interstate.
